Why Start Your Child’s Educational Journey at The Oratory Prep School?

The beginning of your child’s education at the right school is a key decision for any parent. At The Oratory Prep School, we believe in offering the best possible start in our Reception Year Group. Our upcoming Open Morning on Friday 29th November is your chance to learn more about what sets us apart and why an independent school might be the ideal choice for your child starting in September 2025.

1. Small Class Sizes Our small class sizes ensure that every child receives personalized attention, enabling teachers to tailor their lessons to suit individual learning needs. This means children can progress at their own pace, allowing for deeper learning and stronger academic foundations.

2. Exceptional Teachers The quality of teaching is critical at this stage of a child’s development. Our teachers are highly qualified, experienced, and passionate about creating engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences. They also build close relationships with each child, ensuring a deeper understanding of their unique needs and their potential.

3. A Safe and Nurturing Environment Starting school is a big milestone for any child, and we understand the importance of providing a caring, safe, and nurturing environment. At The Oratory Prep School, your child will feel supported in every way—academically, emotionally, and socially—so they can confidently explore new ideas and make friends in a secure setting.

4. Specialist-Taught Curriculum From the start, your child will enjoy a well-rounded curriculum taught by specialists in areas such as French, Swimming, P.E., and Music. Early exposure to expert teaching in these subjects not only enriches their academic experience but also helps to develop skills like creativity, teamwork, and self-expression. They’ll also have a twice-termly lesson in our Senior Art Room and in our Science Labs.

5. Individualised Learning Plans We know that every child learns differently, which is why we focus on individualised learning. Our small class sizes allow our teachers to adjust their teaching methods and provide personalized feedback, ensuring that each child’s strengths are nurtured and areas for development are addressed early on. We have an open door policy here at The OPS and we encourage parents to speak to their child’s class teacher regularly as well as at more formal parents’ evenings.

6. Opportunities Children in Reception will become a member of a House which means they’ll take part in regular House Competitions alongside pupils up to Year 8. They’ll also perform on our theatre stage regularly, have the option of doing a range of After-School Activities (from Mandarin to Fencing, Choir to Baking).

Choosing an independent school from Reception gives your child the best start in life—academically, socially, and emotionally. Join us for our Open Morning on Friday, 29th November, and see how we can help your child thrive.
