OPS Pupils Shine in Prestigious Prep School Lions Football Squads
At The Oratory Prep School we are immensely proud of the strong sporting culture that thrives within our community. A shining example of this is the recent selection of six of our talented pupils to join the prestigious Prep School Lions Football Squads, highlighting our commitment to developing well-rounded athletes who excel both on and off the field.
Our football programme stands out for being inclusive, with mixed teams where both boys and girls can shine. Whether competing on the school pitch or representing their local clubs, our pupils consistently demonstrate high levels of skill, dedication and teamwork.
Jasper, one of our standout footballers who also plays for Pangbourne, has been selected for the elite Prep Schools’ Lions U11 A Squad. Jasper was chosen from over 300 trialists at Wellington College and will now be part of the top 18 players competing at the prestigious Gothia World Youth Cup in Sweden.
In addition to Jasper’s success, Ida and Lily, who both play for Goring Robins, Bridget and Iker, representing AFC Caversham, and Alexander, from Henley AFC, have earned places in the Prep School Lions development squads. These pupils will also travel to Sweden in July 2025 to take part in the Gothia World Youth Cup, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious youth football tournaments. With over 80 nations and 52,000 spectators attending the opening ceremony at the famous Ullevi stadium, it promises to be the experience of a lifetime!
