Extra-Curricular and Wraparound Care

Trips

School trips are an ideal way to ensure that learning extends beyond the classroom, while enhancing the curriculum. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 field trips take place once a term. These educational experiences support Science, History or Geography topics. Our recent trips have included:

  • Reception: Bucklebury Farm, Little Wittenham, Dinton Pastures and the Oxford Museum of Natural History
  • Year 1: The Look Out Discovery Centre in Bracknell, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Milestones Museum, Basingstoke
  • Year 2: Windsor Castle, Reading Museum, Douai Abbey, Marwell Wildlife Park and The Living Rainforest

The children in Little Oaks participate in a workshop each term. These also support the curriculum and help the children to increase their experience and knowledge of the world, whilst encouraging the acquisition of vocabulary. We run an International Focus Day, which is supported by cultural dance workshops.

Wraparound Care

Children aged 3 and above, who are able to manage their own personal self-care and who can communicate their needs clearly, are eligible to attend our popular Breakfast Club, from 7.30am, and After School Club between 3.30 – 6.00pm.

We offer a comprehensive programme of lunchtime and After School activities offered. These include Spanish, RAD Ballet, Tap, and ‘Dress up and Dance’ at lunchtimes. After school, there is the option to take part in Art and Craft, Baking, Clay Modelling, RAD Ballet, Modern Dance, LAMDA Drama, Fencing, Football/Cricket, Fun Maths, Rugby, Science, Swimming and Tennis.

The After School club provides a safe and stimulating environment in which children can play or take part in activities and crafts. They are given the opportunity to relax or read in the ‘quiet area’, and one day of the week is Movie Night, which is always popular.
