Why Choose The OPS?

Why Choose The OPS?

There are so many factors to consider when choosing a school for your child and for you as a family. We hope that the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) set out further below help answer some of the questions you might have.

A fundamental reason parents choose The Oratory Prep School is the extent of the warmth and reassurance that we offer throughout the admissions process.

Do we have to register our child before we visit?

You are not obliged to register your child at the school before visiting, but in advance of your child coming for their ‘taster’ experience at the school.

There is a non-refundable registration fee and an Admission form to be completed to formally register your child.

Registration is offered on a ‘first come first served’ basis and does not guarantee a place at the school. Please refer to our Admissions Booklet as well as our Equal Opportunities Policy for more information on our admissions process by clicking here.

Are you a selective school?

We are not a selective school and do not have entrance requirements, as such. However, we want to be sure that your child can access the curriculum fully, truly thrive and meet their full potential, in all aspects of their education  at the school. In instances where we consider that we are not the right school, we do our utmost to support parents in identifying an alternative school.

Can children join your school before they are two years old?

Children can join our Little Oaks Nursery from the half term after they turn two.

Yes, from the term after a child turns three until they enter into Reception.

The Local Authority provides some funding to the school to enable us to offer a maximum of 570 hours per year of free childcare for 3 and 4-year-olds. This can be taken either as 15 hours per week over 38 weeks (“Term-Time Only” (TTO) or can be “stretched” over the 50 weeks that Little Oaks is open as 11.82 hours per week.

Please note that this funding does not cover any additional extras or services, such as specialist teachers and classes, educational visitor(s), swimming, music, dance, Forest School, lunches, snacks, milk, consumables etc. These costs are averaged and charged as “Additional Charge” at £3.70 per funded hour.
